If you’re on this page, you’re obviously wondering “Who the hell is the writer behind this strange blog?”. Have no fear, all your questions will be answered. My name is Amberly Oosthuizen, at this moment in time (Friday 10th November 2017, 10:34:28 PM SAST) I am 19 years old (I was born on the 29th of April 1998). Currently doing a degree in Human Life Sciences with a minor in Psychology. The picture alongside shows how much I love to use the Snapchat filters, although I never post. I literally just got the app for the filters. I’m slightly crazy, but in a good way. Fitness freak. Loves jelly beans. Tried to take care of succulents but they died. Maybe next year? Single, but not unhappy about it. Always wanted  a YouTube channel, but never going to happen.  Enthusiastic YouTube watcher and procrastinator. Love to cook (but not clean, because there’s a dishwasher for that). That makes me sound really lazy, but it’s just never appealed to me. That being said, I do clean up after myself. If I had a superpower it would be the ability to freeze time, (more time for sleep). Not a huge fan of horror movies, that being said, the Conjuring wasn’t that scary but I will most certainly NEVER be watching The Grudge again. Even with the TV on mute, she’s still scary. No idea what I’m talking about? DON’T Google it. I warned you. Gryffindor, borderline Ravenclaw a real life Hermione (I wish). My best friend’s a trained barista. Tea lover, can’t go a day without at least one cuppa. Drink so much coffee during the exams that it’s like I have a caffeine IV in my left arm. Right handed. Love all kinds of music. Can play the piano, but not as well as I used to. Avid anime watcher. Not boring but definitely not a clubbing girl. Lover of all things Tim Burton. Self-proclaimed novelist (that one story I wrote in Grade 2 does count). Favourite video games: Outlast (Although I’ve never played it), God of War and The Sims (at the moment Sims 3, waiting for Sims 4 to go on sale). Favourite comic book character: Harley Quinn. Marvel or DC: DC, it’s not owned by Disney, so there’s more freedom for experimentation. I’ve been through some hectic stuff, and I love to give good advice. Once described as one with “wisdom beyond her years”. Born too late, to a world that doesn’t care, (wish I was a Punk rocker with flowers in my hair). Basically I’m all over the place, like this post. But I’m tons of fun as a friend. Does that answer your question?

Hi guys, so today I'm going to get really serious with you. Recently I experienced a really bad setback. Experiencing a set back really really sucks. You work really hard to get something, yet you miss it. And it sucks, it just sucks. So how do I deal with setbacks? Before I even start figuring out how I am going to get through it, I have a plethora of negative thoughts, which unfortunately is part of my nature, which I'm trying to work on. I Drank 2 Liters of Water every Day for 30 Days... Here's What Happened

Haven't spoken in a while, but let's be honest I battled to blog every week. My life is so crazy with my Honours degree that I barely even have time for myself, let alone time to think up a blog post. Yet here we are… It occurred to me last month that a simple solution to my writer's block was to try something new every month and report back on what happened. So I decided to up the amount of water I was drinking for 30 days. This meant drinking 2litres of water a day for 30 days. This only refers to the intake of water, not coffee or tea. To be honest, I probably drank more than two litres (other beverages included), but I wanted to focus on a round, seemingly attainable number. 2 Litres seemed doable to me. Why I Meditate... and what my Disney character is

In my last post, I mentioned that I wanted to better my well-being this year. Physical, mental and spiritual well-being. I didn't explicitly state my resolutions, but I did give you the gist of it.   "Meditation is a vital way to purify and quiet the mind, thus rejuvenating the body" - Deepak Chopra Some part of me has always been inherently spiritual. I was introduced to meditation when I was in the third grade. We had been given free time and one of my friends was sitting peacefully in the corner of the classroom, legs crossed and eyes closed. I sat down next to her and asked her what she was doing and she simply replied "meditating". She asked me if I wanted to join her and I did.
